Rope OrganiserBackground - deck organisers lead multiple ropes to a set of clutches in the cockpit to adjust sail tension. Our brief - work closely with Spinlock's in-house team to develop a new family of deck organisers to compliment their existing range of performance rope holding products. Develop a distinctive look and a cohesive family aesthetic. Improve the way the products 'stack' and convincingly work together. Viewing the products in action to understand the environment and loads involved proved critical. Through various ideation sessions we asked ourselves: Why bend and form each extrusion differently and not simply cut it to various lengths? Could a modular end cap neatly terminate this extrusion, provide a distinctive look and create a flat allowing an organiser to be stacked above? Our team explored these and other ideas and compared them against competitive products. Concept sketches communicate initial ideas and possible directions

Ideas were then developed into fully manufacturable designs
A truly revolutionary and distinctive new range with reduced manufacturing cost, rationalised parts, simplified manufacturing and assembly. By using efficient bearings and minimising their overall length, we designed out unnecessary friction, helping to reduce winch effort and increase halyard life. Now in full scale production and outselling the competition, the units are in use on oceans worldwide and are fitted as standard to Beneteau and Moody performance sailing yachts. Spinlock in use
